Rah was very careful to keep an eye on how many fish he was catching. Any that were too big or too small, he ushered back into the lake. Take only what you need; it had been a philosophy his mentor had taught him from the very beginning all those years ago. It felt like a lifetime ago, with all that had changed.
With how much Rah himself had changed.
A tug at the edge of his radar let him know someone was watching from the water's edge, beyond the reeds and cattails. It was a familiar presence l, and one he'd been hoping for, but there was apprehension around her thoughts; and a tinge of curiosity that made his head swim and his heart swell.
But the grumbling of his stomach was more pressing than the pretty mermaid eyeing him from a distance, and it's do him no good to frighten her off so soon. At least until he got another look at those splendid violet eyes of hers...
Rah was very quick to clean the handful of fish he'd lured to their deaths as he opened their bellies with a single cut of a knife to discard the innards into the water. From there it was a matter of skewering them onto sticks and roasting them by the fire, and soon the air was thick with the scent of smoke and fish.
Perhaps now would be a good time to invite his guest to dinner?
As he washed his hands in the lake, Rah cast a glance over to Heather's hiding place as he gave a toothy grin.
"You know you don't have to hide from me, right?" He said teasingly. "I can tell you've been watching me this whole time, and I'm flattered, but I'd be happier if you came to join me." Rah patted the shore beside him. "The grass if soft, and I've got dinner. Plus I want to hear how you've been settling in here."
