"So King Gil is still alive and kicking, eh?" Ezio mused to himself. "I'm not surprised."

The man listened to the rest of Giriana's story without interruption. Orphan or not, it didn't matter to him. His own adoptive son was an orphan. He couldn't help but crack a smile as Giriana finally registered that he had a royal seal.

"Yes, my dear. My work often takes me to other places, and so the king has made me an... ambassador of sorts. It's been quite a while since he's heard from the dragons, so I'm certain he'd delight in me taking you home and speaking with King Gil." His eyes crinkled as his smile widened, and though Giriana couldn't see it, she could hear the laughter and amusement in his voice. "I'm quite afraid that in trying to dissuade me, you've only made me all the more keen to bring you home." Try as he might not to laugh, a small chuckle escaped him.

Children were quite amusing.

Giriana made a noise every parent with daughters was familiar with, the sound of absolute teenage frustration, and flopped back on the bed. Which, of course, hurt. “Oww. Well, your funeral.” She laid there for a moment, thinking.

“Elenia said my eyes could be regrown, though I might not see again. Can I at least get my eye sockets filled so they don’t hurt so much?”

"So long as you're not trying to avoid the punishment given to you by the gods, I suppose there's no harm in it," Ezio conceded with a shrug. "But that raises the question of where to get you healed..." He began to pace around the room with his arms folded across his chest. "I have healing magic, it's true, but it's not enough to regrow eyes. I can only help you manage your pain..." He turned to walk the other direction.

"The healers of Eden may be able to do something, of course. There's also the angels, but with the current state of Katakarthia, and your own condition, would it be wise?" Ezio sat in his chair next to the bed, though from the sound it made it was more of a graceful flop. "There's a lot to consider. Surely you have healers at home?"

"The Light Kingdom. The angels there are good healers, and I met Haliea's Oracle before. He'll help with the damage, if anyone can." She frowned, thinking carefully. "Divine fire is something beyond normal healing magic's ability to fix. I doubt any non-Oracle could even treat it... Maybe a powerful enough Royal, but that is a maybe." She rolled onto her side, facing away from Ezio as she slowly began to lose herself in her thoughts. It was easy to do without any sights to draw her attention.

Giriana voice came again in a soft whisper, spoken more to herself than to Ezio. "It wasn't a punishment..."

It seemed Giriana was dead set on going to Katakarthia, and while Ezio couldn't blame her--angels were notoriously famous healers--he was concerned about the ever looming war. Angels and demons were always poking at each other's borders. How long until that angered the right people?

"Giri, hold still, my child," the man said with a soft sigh. He reached out with a calloused hand and set it gently against her head, his hand already radiating with the faint glow of his magic. It pulsated out from the source and over her skin before seeping in as tiny glittering specks of healing light. "This is all I can do for you until I get you to a healer. But I can't guarantee your safety in Katakarthia. I'm just one man, and though I may be a sphinx, there's still only so much I can do alone."

He paused briefly, his eyes distant as he continued to hold his hand to her. "I could bring my son as extra insurance against demons, I suppose. I know he'd eagerly jump at the chance..."

"I've never met your son." Giri latched on to the simpler thing, trying to distract herself. Both from her fears, and the image that dominated what she had instead of sight. "What's he like?" She glanced over her shoulder at him, or at least made the motion of doing so, though she kept her body turned away from him.

"I wonder how well we'll get along..." Her voice trailed off again as her thoughts wandered.
