Characters involved: Miara (Moons), Ève (ImmortalLady)
Setting: Southern shore of Odslig Lake
Time: Relatively early morning
Weather: Rainy

Miara was miserable.

She tightened her cloak around her as the rain pattered on, tapping steadily against the rocks. Kneeling and pulling out her gathering knife to cut moss from the rocks at the lakeshore and scrape off as much dirt as she could, she shivered and cursed the weather.

Her dress was going to need cleaning, her cloak would be worse than useless until it dried. It's just a little water, she tried to assure herself. For Nialle's sake, since when does a little water bother a water nymph?

Her being a water nymph aside, though, she was cold. Well, I can't exactly use the moss until it's dry, and I haven't got guests right now. Maybe once I'm done here I'll be able to nap until the rain stops.

The promise of rest after the chore was done was small comfort, but comfort nonetheless. She sighed, adjusted the cloak in vain hopes of finding a slightly less soaked spot to rest against her back, and finished scraping the piece of moss she'd cut. Laying it in the basket, she put away her knife and stood up, knees popping with the movement. "Basket's halfway full," she mused to no one in particular. "Won't be too long now before I'm out of the rain."

The passive use of air magic to prevent droplets of rain from soaking her like a wet animal was already making Ève feel incredibly tired in spite of her best efforts to maintain her energy. To say the least, The diminutive dancer-mage was utterly relieved when she spotted a cave just behind a nearby waterfall. All she would need to do to pass through the waterfall while staying dry was exert one last push with her air magic against the falling water so that she could enter the natural structure and recuperate before covering the last few miles to Sirithell when it was dry.

With a deep intake of air, Ève closed her eyes and slowly began to gyrate her hips in a circular fashion in order to facilitate the flow of vikta through vikta throughout her curvaceous form. Suddenly, her magic manifested itself above her as a powerful torrent of air pushed upwards against gravity to repel all objects that sought to fall upon her from above. The mage passed through the waterfall untouched by the falling water before abruptly releasing the spell with a deep gasp of exhaustion.

Ève was a very young mage and her ability to maintain an ample supply of vikta was not yet developed to a strong extent. Even casting a few mundane spells in quick succession was enough to tire her out. As such, the short-statured mage let herself drop to the floor in a controlled fall so as not to hurt herself. However, upon glancing at her surroundings within the cave, Ève realized that she had stumbled upon someone's home and that she was in fact, a guest.

"Oh, gosh...I'm such an idiot..." The dancer-mage muttered softly to herself. As far as she could see, the cave's inhabitant was not home. However, she didn't want to surprise whoever it was by looking like a thief caught in the act. To that end, Ève laid back down on the cold and hard ground near the entrance to the cave. Then, she closed her eyes and waited for whoever lived within the cave to arrive...

Miara trekked back up the path leading home, exhausted and sodden. She slipped through the gap where the rock arched away from the waterfall, only to nearly trip over Ève. "Oh! A traveler? Give me just a moment to change into something dry and I'll be right with you." She set the basket of moss on a shelf and slipped through the curtains at the back of the cave.

When she emerged, she was in a dry, cozy-looking dress with a shawl pinned around her shoulders. She hung up the wet clothes to dry, stirred the banked fire to life, and began attending to Ève. The nymph didn't give the newcomer a chance to get a word in edgewise before she was tucked into one of the guest beds, draped in a fur blanket, with a cup of tea in her hands, and Miara was sitting on the floor beside the bed, spreading out the wet moss on a tray to dry by the fire. "So what brings you here?"

"Oh please, take your time!" The dancer-mage replied softly after the blonde elf woman addressed her unexpected presence. "I'm in no rush and I'm fine." She added in a futile manner before the elf disappeared behind the curtains.

It didn't take long for her host to return, clad within a comfortable-looking dress and walking with purpose in her stride. The woman's hospitality was almost unexpected to Ève given the odd circumstances of her arrival into her home. However, Ève didn't question her generosity as she was wrapped in a warm fur blanket and given a hot cup of tea before being settled into a soft bed. She worked so quickly that Ève could hardly keep track of her movements, though her own exhaustion from holding a spell for more than four hours didn't help the acuity of her senses. Before long, the elf had seated herself on the floor next to the bed, with her attention solely focused on the exhausted dancer-mage lying down before her.

"Umm...the rain." Ève began awkwardly. "Nevermind, uhhh...that was vague. I'm on my way to Sirithell to study magic with an instructor." She clarified as she took a light sip from the warm tea within her hands. "I...have a particular style of casting that...makes it difficult for me to learn from conventional magic instructors. I've been told that the mage I'm meeting practices a similar style of magic that I do, and that I could learn quite a bit from them." She added with a soft smile. "Also, my name is Ève. What's yours?"

"I'm Miara, the nymph of this waterfall." Miara adjusted the young mage's blanket, which was starting to fall off her shoulder. "And, I'm told, a welcome sight to weary travelers." She laughed a bit. "Been tending to this little place since I was born, sheltering travelers and staying out of the wider world's shenanigans. But enough about me. You say you're a mage?"

"Oh me, oh my!" Ève exclaimed suddenly. "I admit...I've never met a Nymph..." She purred in a bashful tone before taking another sip from her tea. "And you've been here your whole life? Have you ever left, or...perhaps thought of doing so? Have you been to the city?"

Although the woman's appearance had escaped her senses earlier, now that she had a chance to take in Miara's appearance, she immediately saw how strikingly comely the Nymph was. Her long blonde mane seemed soft like silk and her ice-blue eyes were doe-like in their appearance. In contrast to herself, she possessed a slender, yet gracefully curvy form. Elegantly shaped ears angled slightly upward to complete the image of her gorgeous visage. Although Ève had initially mistaken the Nymph for an elf, she quickly realized the folly of her error when she saw the suggestive definition of her delicate collarbones and the slenderness of her shapely neck.

"I'm a mage, yes but...not a very good one, I admit." Ève continued, her lashes fluttering as a distinctive shade of crimson flushed beneath her dark tan features. "I'm more of a...dancer, though I blend magic and dance when I cast my spells." She finished as she adjusted the blanket over her plump figure.

"I'm happy here, close to the Starfall. A little lonely sometimes, I won't lie. But it's peaceful here." Miara set aside a full tray and picked up an empty one, picking up sheets of moss from the basket one by one and laying them out. "A dancer? Small wonder - you've got the grace for it. And give yourself a little credit! You made it through that storm and scarcely got wet. I couldn't do that." The nymph shivered - even back in the warmth of her cave, in dry clothes and with the fire blazing, she was chilled through. She got up from her spot and poured herself a cup of tea, setting the full trays by the fire to dry while she was over there.

"Do you practice magic yourself?" Ève replied as a glint of curiosity appeared within her gold irises. Knowing that the woman was of a magically attuned species, the mage-dancer wondered if she gleam something from the Nymph regarding magic. She was always trying to improve and develop her magical abilities, even from those as strange to her as Miara. Ève took a deep swig from her tea, which she could sense was growing cooler within her hands. Then, she picked up her travel bag, placed it within her lap, and pulled out six copper pieces before closing the bag and letting it slide back onto the ground.

"Also...I'd like to give you these for your trouble." She extended her hands to the Nymph, with the copper pieces in the palms. Although Ève wasn't sure if the currency was worth much to such a strange and arcane as her, she wanted to demonstrate her gratitude, even if the gift was turned away or refused.
