Charbdys

Giant jellyfish capable of creating massive whirlpools that can suck in entire ships.

Aging

Charbdys are functionally immortal, following a life cycle similar to the jellyfish they resemble. They will, however, sink and bud after 100 years. In their proper form, they tend to follow the following cycle:

0 to 10: small
10 to 30: large
30 to 100: full sized

Average Lifespan: immortal

Diet

Charbdys will eat anything that slips into range of it's maw.

Appearance

Charbdys are massive jellyfish that just float in the water. Their colors and shapes can vary, and some of them are even more akin to colonies of jellyfish than one singular creature. All Charbdys have one key feature: a massive maw that is used to suck in thousands of gallons of water. They lack brains, operating entirely on a honed series of instincts that allow them to preform some functions similar to conscious thought, but none of them are capable of anything that resembles true sentience.

Abilities

Charbdys are mostly stationary, settling into sections of deeper water and occasionally opening their mouths to create whirlpools and consuming anything that gets sucked in. If threatened, they can respond by quickly pumping water out of their maw, with a powerful enough stream to rip flesh off bone. The tendrils that float in the water around it sting prey, impaling them and trying to pull them into the mouth.
