Appearance

Akhlut have a body that looks primarily like an orca. They stand at six feet at the shoulder, and are covered in a thick black and white rubbery hide. They have long powerful tails that propel them rapidly through the water, and four wolf-like legs that carry them onto land in search of their favorite prey; humans. They have a single dorsal fin on their back.

Abilities

While not magical, akhluts are known for their strength, speed, and cunning. They hunt in pods, and communicate with sonar, clicks, and whistles. Even alone they’re capable hunters, but in a pod they’re even more deadly.

Culture

Living in pods, or packs, consisting of a father, mother, and their children (and occasionally grandparents), akhlut have very strong family bonds with each other. However, they’re incredibly vicious to all other species outside of their families. Even other pods of akhlut are not immune to this.

The young of the pod will break away, often to carve out their own territory and start a family of their own. Challenges are bloody, brutal, and often fatal.

Many families use tales of akhlut packs to scare children into behaving, and tales of their vicious nature has even reached the interior of Sleibte. They prefer colder waters and climates, as their thick layer of blubber keeps them warm.
