The Vikta

The Vikta is considered spirit energy in its rawest, purest form and is the source of all magic in the world. It is the embodiment of the souls of all living things from past to future. Some have come to consider it fate, while others believe it to just be the strongest magic known to all. It is thought to have existed long before the gods were ever created and in turn were what created Jaelanai, Goddess of Life, and Akros, God of Knowledge.

Every living creature, whether magical or not, is composed of vikta and must have some in their bodies in order to live. The amount of vikta a creature has varies from one to another depending on the amount of vikta their body is able to contain. For example, a non-magical person will have a smaller amount of vikta while a magician will have a vast amount. Each creature has a fixed range of vikta they can contain in their body as well as a limit to how much they can improve their vikta supply. This is predetermined by the Vikta from birth. If one reaches the limit for improving their magic supply, no amount of training will allow them to be able to surpass this cap. It has been said that a god may be able to increase the limit, but this has yet to be proven.

There are two classifications of Vikta: free-flowing and personal.

Free-Flowing Vikta

Free-flowing Vikta is found in the world and not linked to a specific person. It lives in the air, the water, the land, etc. It has no connection to any specific entity as it goes through the world carefree. It has, however, been known to follow oracles or cluster nearby them on occasion.

Personal Vikta

Personal Vikta is that, that is linked to a specific creature or entity. Personal Vikta is the personified Vikta that is found in a person, creature, or entity. It is directly linked to that person’s vikta supply, though it does not show around the person 24/7. When the user is engaged in battle, the Vikta may appear when the user begins to enter a desperate final attack. In other instances, it may appear at the user’s command but few are able to see if unless the caster is able to make them visible to those around them.

Appearance

Most are not able to see the Vikta. It is an ability that must be trained in order to see the shape and form it takes after. Only the most skilled are able to see it naturally as well as oracles. However, there has been development of special objects or tools that allow ordinary species to be able to see Vikta. For those who are able to see it, the Vikta takes on the shape of an animal. The color is typically a bright white light with a yellow glow to it. Those who have negative energy will often see their Vikta change colors to a deep red, purple, and in rare cases, black.

Personal Vikta can differ from person to person. It typically reflects the nature of the person at their core and the animal can only be one species per person. If one has a swan Vikta, they can have multiple swans, but never a swan and a hawk or another type of bird/animal. The stronger the person is, the more Vikta creatures the person can have around them or the size may vary.

Free-form Vikta typically takes the form of small birds around the size of butterflies or freeform energy like that of water moving.

Usage

Vikta is the source of magic in all creatures who have magical abilities. When using their magic/Vikta, the amount the creature has in their body diminishes. This well replenishes over time so that they will always have a supply of Vikta in case it is used for magical abilities or in battle. However, the rate of replenishment is not equal to the rate it is used. Vikta takes some time to regenerate in a body, so if a person uses over half of their supply of Vikta, then it can take days to return to full strength. Due to Vikta being tied to the creature’s life force, if they start running out of Vikta or lose almost all of their Vikta, it can result in death.
